Beautiful Sea Beach of Doomas Near Surat in Gujarat State in India

The Western coast of India is full of the beautiful sea beaches. Doomas is one of them. It is situated only around 6 miles away from city of Surat in the Gujarat State of India. This sea beach is at the coast of Arabian Sea. Most of the local population of Surat is visiting this lovely Sea beach on almost every weekend to enjoy the fresh air of the Seaside. Doomas is considered as one of the best places for cure of tuberculosis patients due to its fresh and pollution free air. As I had stayed in Surat for around 6 years, I was able to visit this beautiful Sea beach many times and hence is fully aware of its features.

Surat is well connected by air from Mumbai. There are daily flights available from Mumbai for Surat. Surat is one of the main junctions on the railway Line from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. There are lots of taxis and auto rickshaws available for Doomas. It hardly takes around 30 minutes to reach Doomas from Surat railway station as the road passes through the entire city of Surat. As soon as you reach Doomas, the wide, quiet, and most scenic Sea beach is before your eyes. The sea is very quiet here and that is why taking a bath here in the sea is considered very safe. However, make sure to take bath in the Sea at the time of rising tide as it is highly unsafe to take a bath at the time of low tide. The Sea water can pull you inside the deep sea at that time. The entire sea beach of Doomas is having black sand sprayed all along the beach. There are tall coconut trees on the beach, which impart a special beauty to this unique sea beach. That is why the most watery coconuts are very easily available here at a very nominal cost. One coconut containing around 400 ML of water can be available in only Rs.5 (12 cents). This water is really very sweet and the best tonic for the human body. There is a very nice temple of Ambaji at the beach. The temple compound is having the most beautiful garden all around it. Seating in this garden facing the open Arabian Sea in late evening hours can be the most memorable experience. The tourists take long walks on the beach, both in the morning and evening. One can also enjoy the real lavish bath in the open sea for many hours during the day time. However, if you are not used to taking bath in the seawater, your skin can get black and can peel off from your body. Hence, make sure to apply the protective sunscreen lotion while moving on the sea beach in hot summer.

There are few good hotels available here for the stay of tourists. Hotel Doomas is one of the most comfortable hotels here. It offers the decent double rooms at the cost of Rs.1200 ($30) per day. The nice Gujarati meals are available here at nominal rates. However, only Gujarati food delicacies are available here. There is one South Indian style restaurant here in Doomas. However, the food quality here is not very good. There are various tuberculosis sanatoriums here for the patients. These sanatoriums offer a flat consisting of drawing room, bed room, and the kitchen for all the tuberculosis patients. Such flats/apartments can be hired at the subsidized rates of around Rs.2000 ($50) per month. The raw materials for cooking the food also are available here easily for the people who would like to stay for a long time of 2 to 3 months. The weather here at Doomas remain quiet balanced all through the year. However, the best season to visit and stay at Doomas is during the months from October to May. The monsoon is quiet severe here and it may not be advisable to visit it at that time. The seasonal hafus mangoes are very famous here and are easily available in the month of May. These mangoes are exported in almost all the countries of the world including the USA.

Thousands of tourists visit this beautiful sea beach from all over the world. However, local Gujarati people are very fond of this fabulous sea beach, and hence, they keep on visiting it around couple of times every year. If you happen to visit Surat any time during your visit to India, make sure to visit Doomas at least for a day.
