Why is all that is beautiful to you only on the surface?
A cliche metaphor, surface refers to ignorance of deeper meaning.
We only have the idea of beauty because
We have it's inverse to compare it to.
But the inverse of beauty is ugliness, not revolting
Beauty's inverse is ugliness, but it's opposite is revolting.
To love someone is to care and
To hate someone is to care.
The only way to hit opposite of love it to not care
Hate is love's inverse, and is easily inverted
But not caring is hard to fix.
Back to beauty and ugliness, what is revolting is hard to fix.
What is beautiful and ugly should be appreciated
Hate what is revolting; love beauty and ugliness.
By ugliness, I don't mean anything negative
It's simply a trait, no motives or feelings behind it.
By beauty, I don't mean that you're necessarily any more attractive
Then someone who is ugly.
Many girls have misunderstood me when I told them,
"You are beautiful (or cute, or hot)"
They've offered me their number or started flirting
Thinking that I wanted them; that wasn't what I meant
I just offered that up; make what you want of it
By all means, take it as a compliment
I want you to feel good about yourself
No matter who you are-but simply take it for all that it is.
Other girls have taken me wrong the other way, such as,
"That outfit does not look good" or "you used too much make up"
Of course, I received the cold shoulder
Only to find out from a friend later
Exactly why she was angry at me
But I cared enough to tell her my opinion:
Because someone else may get the same opinion
And I know she wants to look good
She also cared enough about my opinion, if she were angry,
Which means she placed too much emphasis
On people's opinions and relied too much on them.
Simply take it for all that it is.
Changing your behavior to accept me more or
Giving me the cold shoulder to show me
You don't care about me-both of these
Display artificial behavior and show me that
You're not taking my statements for all that they are
This is bad for your personal growth and
Bad for the development of social interactions.
There's no use to say anymore.
If you understood, then great,
If you didn't, then you're hopeless and reading anymore won't help you.
