Beautiful and Unique Communities in Detroit
Neighborhood: ArdenPark-East Boston, boston Edison, Rosedale Park
Detroit, MI 482323
United States of America
Majestic, prestigious and architecturally elegant, are some of the words that can be used to describe homes for sale and/or foreclosure in the City of Detroit. The National Register of Historic Places in the National Parks Service, lists many areas of the City of Detroit as National and Historic treasures, and rightfully so. The Arden Park-East Boston district on the east side of the city, consist of 92 homes built in the architectural styles of the late 19th and 20th century American movements, as well as Renaissance and Revival.

Business barons J.L. Hudson and Stanley Kresege , were among some of the areas original owners. The area currently consist of urban professionals who work in the downtown area. The beautiful Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament, the personal residence of Detroit's Roman Catholic Cardinal Archbishop, is the most prominent landmark in this neighborhood.

Indian Village, also on Detroit's east side, consist primarily of homes built by world renowned architects Albert Kahn and Lewis Kampe, who designed in the architectural styles of Mission-Spanish Revival, as well as Tudor and Colonial Revival. These homes built for prominent citizens, are extremely large, often with carriage houses, and some are ensconced with Pewabic Pottery tiles, exclusive in Detroit homes since 1903. The area boast many neighborhood organizations that are active year round and in December, there is a holiday home tour.

On the west side of the city is beautiful Rosedale Park, a community that is family friendly and uniquely owns and operates in North Rosedale Park, a clubhouse which is the only privately owned recreation facility within the city of Detroit. With over 1500 single properties, it is the largest district nominated to the NRHP and was added in July of 2006. The homes are primarily brick, in architectural styles as varied as their owners; some in traditional Colonial or Tudor Revival, while others were built from pattern books, or house plans. There are Dutch Colonial, American Foursquare, Ranch, or International style . With the wonderful mixture of styles, surprisingly, everything fits together in a perfectly airy and eclectic way that illustrates the area and it's beauty. This area remains desirable for the community life it provides the residents, as well as the home quality and park like surroundings.

These are but a few of the wonderfully unique homes in the City of Detroit for sale or in foreclosure; many more are available and are currently listed as National Historic Places. Each of these three areas, as well as the others, have a few things in common; hard working people, community participation and love for the city and for their neighborhoods. All these things make owning a home in the city Detroit very appealing.

I am overjoyed to have found this writing community! I write to enlighten myself and others, and to learn by reading what others have to say, as we all have a unique point of view of how we view the world....  View profile
