Beautiful Wedding Reception Table Centerpieces and Decorations

DeeDee
With all things related to weddings, things are expensive and centerpieces are no exception. You can cut the cost, at least a little, by creating your own centerpieces. If you wedding will be in the fall I have the perfect centerpiece for you that I used for my wedding. My centerpieces were fake floral arrangements in Terra Cotta pots. The flowers looked like mums but were fake. This worked out great because they obviously didn't wilt and die and are reused for church dinners that take place in the fall. Here's how you can replicate my centerpieces.

Materials needed:
Bunches of fake flowers (the amount will depend on how many tables you will have at your reception. I'd get at least two full sized bunches of flowers for each centerpiece.)
Wire cutters
Styrofoam
Medium-sized Terra Cotta pots
Fall themed ribbon

Instructions for buying supplies:
Start by going to your local craft store like A.C. Moore, Michaels, or even the craft department at WalMart. Should you choose to go to the craft store, make sure you go with your 40-50% off coupon!

Next scan the fake floral department for flowers that look like mums. You can vary the color the way my centerpieces were or you can use all the same color. Mine were bright orange, yellow, and Burgundy.

Once you find the flowers you like, pick out Terra Cotta pots. I went with medium-sized. Nothing too small that you couldn't even see the arrangements, but nothing too big that would cost you an arm and a leg to fill up with flowers. Get one for each table.

Make sure you purchase green Styrofoam unless you already have some at home.

Then visit the ribbon aisle for hearty sized ribbon with a fall theme on it. They often sell spools of it with pumpkins or leaves on it.

Instructions for putting the centerpiece together:
When you get home, cut the Styrofoam into a square block small enough to fit into the Terra Cotta pots.

Arrange the flowers the way you want them and stick them into the Styrofoam to help them stay in place. If the stick out longer than the area you'd like them to rest above the Terra Cotta pot, use your wire cutters to cut the stems down to the desired length.

Create a puffy bow with the fall themed ribbon or simply wrap it around the Terra Cotta pot and just let it freely flow.

If you want, you could always create a similar version of this centerpiece using real mums in the Terra Cotta pot or you could cut out the guts of a pumpkin and place the mums inside of that. I don't recommend it though since it will be time consuming and won't last for an extended period of time the way the fake floral version will.
