Beautiful Wedding Venues Near South Bend, Indiana-& Michigan Too!

L. V. Paganini
Your wedding is one of the most important events in your life and where you have your ceremony and reception is one of the most important decisions you'll make regarding your wedding day.

A winery, a beach, a vineyard, a ballroom, a Victorian home, or ? Weddings are done everywhere now with wineries and vineyards being some of the most popular venues.

In this article I'll mention a few wedding ceremony and wedding reception venues near South Bend, Indiana. Ceremonies are sometimes done at the same site as the reception; often the ceremony will be held outdoors at a site, then move (but on the same property) so the reception is done inside. Many ceremonies are still done in churches and the receptions are currently being held just about anywhere.

The first beautiful wedding venue is the Palais Royale which first opened in 1922 as a big band dance hall that featured opulent décor inspired by great European buildings. In 1935 the building sustained some damage when nearby bombs were set off and during WWI it served as a serviceman's center. Fully restored, it re-opened New Year's Eve, 2002 and today, this site offers a very historic atmosphere with a spectacular dance floor with a stage. The banquet facility is suitable for 125 to 450 attendees and has on site catering.

Their staff can provide a variety of menus for either buffet or plated banquets. A large ballroom complete with a winding staircase provides a romantic backdrop for your nuptial ceremony and/or reception. The Palais Royale is also conveniently located in the heart of the downtown section South Bend. (Visit their website at palaisroyale.org for more details.)The next beautiful wedding venue is one of the historical Amish-built Round Barns that are quickly disappearing from Northwest Indiana. This wedding site is about half an hour from downtown South Bend, Indiana. Re-located to the foot of our vineyards among the rolling hills of the Michigan countryside, is an ideal spot for any occasion. The Round Barn Winery would be happy to host your wedding.

They have facilities to handle up to 150 seated guests with a tent which can handle larger parties. Their Copper Bar can accommodate 45 guests and the winery grounds have many lovely sites for your wedding ceremony. The Round Barn Winery does have a lot of events, both public and private throughout the year so you'll want to contact them as early as possible once you have a firm wedding date. There is also a B & B on the property. (Go to their website at roundbarnwinery.com for more details.)

The South Bend Country Club is the last beautiful wedding venue in this article. The club, established in 1916, has a modern clubhouse, the Leighton House. It features flavorful cuisine selected from a sumptuous menu or a specific menu can be customized for your wedding reception. The South Bend Country Club dining room can easily handle 200 guests. Or, the Patio is an ideal place for a reception.

This site also has smaller rooms where you might host a rehearsal dinner, bridal showers, or a small, intimate wedding reception. Their event consultant will be happy to provide meticulous attention to detail for your wedding day. (Visit southbendcc.com for additional information.)

There are many other wedding venues in this area. This is just a little information to get you started.

We hired Palais Royale for our June 2009 wedding reception. My husband and I both work in client service-oriented professions. I would not recommend this location to another couple as we were disappointed with the service and value received overall. Day-of-event service was good, but it did not make up for over a year of dealing with an uncooperative venue. We were forced to accept a 17% increase in our food and beverage budget when they inflated the menu pricing twice over the 16 months we dealt with them. We received nothing in exchange for our disappointment and were treated just like any other client. If you want to work with a vendor that is invested in your event, look elsewhere. There are plenty of other nice venues to choose from! In all, our time and expenses would have been better allocated to a venue that needed more decorations to beautify it, rather than dealing with the high prices and poor service at Palais. You can achieve more for the same amount of money elsewhere.
