There are some simple steps you can follow when it comes to applying and using facial scrubs. The best way to apply any scrub is with your fingers, makes for an easy cleanup! Turn on the tap water and get it warm (not hot) and splash your face with it, making sure that anywhere you are going to use the scrub is at least damp. You will scoop up the scrub with your fingers and begin massaging it into your face, start from the forehead and move down, using a gentle circular motion. Avoid eye areas. The last step is to rinse your face with warm water, making sure to remove all remnants of the scrub, then pat your face dry with a clean towel (do not rub).
Honey Cornmeal Exfoliating Scrub
This one was inspired to me by the cornmeal muffins I like to make. I always add honey to them, it gives them more of a cupcake consistency instead of a grainy one. This is because honey is moisturizing, well, for your skin anyway! The cornmeal, because of it's grainy texture, is great for exfoliating the dead skin cells from your face, and to combat the harshness of this scrub the honey will replenish some of your moisture immediately. Mix three teaspoons of cornmeal, with a couple drops of water and one teaspoon of honey. Because of the harshness of the granules in the cornmeal it is wise to only use this scrub once a week.
Toning Oatmeal Strawberry Scrub
This one is inspired by my favorite breakfast food as a child. I love the instant oatmeal, single packs, peaches and cream and strawberries and cream were the best. Oatmeal helps to soften the skin and it can also help with any kind of itching (from pimples, etc.) or discomfort in your skin. Strawberries are a natural astringent and can help to tighten the pores. Mix 2 tablespoons of instant oatmeal with a few drops of water and one mashed up fresh strawberry. This scrub is gentle enough to use on a daily basis.
