Beautilicious Pink Grapefruit Scented Body Cream Review

Dollar Store Beauty Bargain

Alexandra Morgan
Often times you get what you pay for, especially where beauty products are concerned; but some beauty bargains are a great deal and a beauty find in one, does Beautilicious Pink Grapefruit Scented Body Cream qualify, or is it just another cheap attempt at copying a better product?

I'm not one to buy beauty products from the dollar store; I most certainly would never buy cosmetics from a dollar store; but on a recent dollar store excursion I saw low-cost re-makes of products offered at Bath and Body Works, and decided to give them a try. What the heck, I mean it's only a dollar spent and we're talking body lotion and body spray, not face masks. So, noting the vast array of products offered, I scooped up four or five to try because sometimes the best deal can be the one you turn your nose up at initially. And frankly, if cosmetics companies charged what their products actually cost to make, the price would be similar to that of the dollar store. Okay, enough of my price ranting, on to the product at hand.

Beautilicious Pink Grapefruit Scented Body Cream (Dollar Store Beauty Bargain): Product Packaging

Beautilicious Pink Grapefruit Scented Body Cream comes in a 3.7 fluid ounce jar with pink top, definitely more targeted to girly girls or extremely feminine women.

Beautilicious Pink Grapefruit Scented Body Cream (Dollar Store Beauty Bargain): Product Performance

The cream itself is a nice thick purple shade and consistency, equivalent to yogurt, and goes on smooth and cool. I was amazed at how well this $1 product covered the skin and didn't leave the greasy, filmy, sheen that some higher priced products leave behind. It's the worst when you've just applied lotion and feel like you have to wash or wipe off your hands immediately afterward to even touch anything.

I applied the Beautilicious Pink Grapefruit Scented Body Cream to feet, legs, hands, and arms after showering; and the initial soft, light, summery, fruit scent that I discerned in the bottle at the store turned into a harsh acidic scent when applied all over.

I know well enough not to judge a scent based product on the initial smell after application though because most scents calm down quite a bit 20 minutes or so after application.

I followed up the Beautilicious Pink Grapefruit Scented Body Cream with a few sprays of the Clinical Works Foot Splash in Pink Grapefruit scent, which is said to relieve aching muscles and swelling feet (please see my coming review of Clinical Works Foot Splash in Pink Grapefruit) and put on my socks and shoes, prepared for a day of walking.

I was relieved to find that the Beautilicious Pink Grapefruit Scented Body Cream scent did in fact mellow out to a nice light citrus scent after a half hour or so; the one drawback is that the scent calms down so much that it's almost nonexistent after an hour or two. But, this is a body cream and not a body splash or perfume, so the scent isn't traditionally going to last all day.

Beautilicious Pink Grapefruit Scented Body Cream (Dollar Store Beauty Bargain): Overall

The scent wasn't the best I've smelled, wasn't the worst either; it didn't last as long as some other products, but didn't under perform all of them either. In short, if you want a basic product that will moisturize well and only costs $1, Beautilicious Pink Grapefruit Scented Body Cream is a smart inexpensive purchase; but if you're looking for glamor, great fragrance, and any extra add-ons (SPF, anti-aging ingredients, etc.), you would do better with a high-end product from a national retail chain or department store cosmetics counter.

If all of the attributes of a body cream are considered (fragrance, moisturizing, extra SPF and anti-aging ingredients), I would give this product two and a half stars out of five; but purely based on price and moisturizing, I would give it four out of five stars. In the end, it all depends on what you want your body cream to do for you.
