Beauty Bar, located at 1444 West Chicago Avenue in Chicago, is a great little addition to the nightlife scene on Chicago's Near West Side. You may reach Beauty by car, bus, or train with a brief walk. Beauty Bar is in the location where Sonnotheque once was.

Beauty Bar Chicago has sister bars in Los Angeles, New York, Brooklyn, San Francisco, Austin, Las Vegas, and Portland.

The unique concept about Beauty Bar is that it is also an actual Beauty Bar/salon. There is an area where manicures and facials are provided at minimal cost. There is even a drink deal with a procedure.

Beauty Bar attracts a diverse range of people, from the typical hipsters, DJs, and metropolitan personnel, to young urban professionals. The crowd varies depending on the occasion; on weekends you will find a mix of locals and hipsters.

On weeknights, Beauty Bar typically has some of the best local DJs and bands playing the favorite jams. You'll find classic new wave, old-school hiphop, juke, and electro alongside jam music and breakbeats. Do not expect to hear the same old tired top-forty; expect to hear unique music and nostalgic jams that entertain your ears.

Cover price for the weekends is typically five dollars for entry.

Their drink menu is extensive and inclusive. Beauty bar has cheap domestics (PBR, Highlife) as well as high-range brews like Duvel, lambics, Delirium, and top-shelf liquors like Patron, Grey Goose, and Ketel One . Drink prices range from $4 to $10 and up.

The interior literally looks like a 1950's/1970's beauty bar. There are vintage chairs and art, modernist wallpaper, and a photo booth. Cleverly, there are hair-driers as seats in the front section. There is a disco ball in the dance area.

The vibe I felt entering Beauty Bar was female-friendly, fun and urbane. This bar is not overly exclusive; it's welcoming to a wide range of people. There's a dance floor in the rear area and adequate space for mingling. It is geared towards the younger night-life crowd - leave your uptight attitude at home and have some fun.

I noticed a lot of fashionable people in Beauty Bar; everyone from the ironically-frocked hip-hoppers, bike messengers, to tightly-dressed lipstick models. Almost every night there is a photographer taking pictures for the night-life websites like going.com.

Beauty Bar is a good place to take a date, especially if you want to go dancing. Beauty Bar provides a solidly fun experience of a night in Chicago. It may not be as rowdy as some of the venues in Chicago, but it does have its own effervescent charm.

I expected a much more boisterous scene, Beauty Bar was relaxing. Excluding the dance floor, Beauty Bar Chicago is a calm bar.

The main floor is open for mingling and social interaction. Expect to stand with your friends and socialize.
