Fashion didn't take a backseat to music at the CMT Music Awards. Although more casual than some of the other awards shows, there were some standout looks.
Keith Urban's beautiful wife, Nicole Kidman, usually knows how to dress her long, lithe frame. This time she chose an asymmetrical green and brown gown that looked more suited for a winter event because of the velveteen top. Another odd thing was the blue gladiator-style sandals on her feet. True, it was a pop of color, which is a popular fashion trend this year, but it was a strange color choice. Luckily, Kidman kept herself from being too out there with a cute pulled-back hairdo, which she accented with a pair of dangling earrings and picture perfect makeup. That and her beautiful smile were her saving grace.
Sheryl Crow looked heavenly in a white floor length Grecian style gown that hugged every curve. The draped neckline provided the perfect frame for the singer's beautiful face. A beaded embellishment on the left hip added just the right amount of jeweled accent. As usual, Cheryl kept her long locks down and flowing in soft waves; her trademark.
Most of the women went short this year. Martina McBride played it ultra-casual but still managed to wow the crowd. The savvy beauty took a page out of this year's fashion catalog, mixing nudes and whites with ease. Her nude colored mini skirt matched her shoes and showed off her delicious tan. Her loose black and white top skimmed gracefully over the body. A long cross necklace completed the look along with her beautiful long tresses.
Former American Idol contestant, Crystal Bowersox, showed she could do Glam in a floor length purple gown. She styled her hair in soft updo and added a pendant at the throat to polish the look. It was a far cry from any of the scruffy outfits the singer often wore on the show that made her a household name.
Another Idol beauty, Lauren Alaina, went pretty in pink, which well suited her feminine persona. The knee-length dress featured a fitted and ruched bodice with a full skirt adorned with matching pink roses. Nude-colored heels and a simple chain necklace polished off the youthful, but chic look. Her best accessory, however, was her "boy" friend, Idol winner Scotty McCreery.
Jennifer Nettles combined animal print, metallic, and ultra feminine fashion trends together. She chose a bronzed metallic short leather skirt, pairing it with a one-shoulder leopard print top that featured a poofy feminine detail around the top. To complete the look, she wore black sandals. Her hair was wavy and feminine as well.
Sara Evans stopped traffic in a short cobalt blue one-shoulder mini. Shoulder duster jeweled earrings and a matching bracelet on her wrist was all she needed to finish the look. She kept her shoes nude and her hair long and straight. She never looked lovelier.
It was the lady's night to shine and, for the most part, they didn't fail to please.
