Beauty and the Geek is back for its third season, reinforcing stereotypes and making us feel a little bit guilty for even watching it again.

This season's cast began with eight pairings:

Sanjay and Tori
Californian Sanjay is a medical student and Tori is a (yawn) model who likes to sing in the shower and talk on the 'phone and apparently anything else that doesn't require any degree of intellectual stimulation.

Niels and Jennylee
Niels is an Electrical Engineering major at the University of California and also, if you can possibly believe it, a professional dating coach, while Jennylee is- big drum roll- a model who takes pole dancing lessons.

Matt and Andrea
The stork-like Matt studies Applied Math at M.I.T. and partner Andrea is a bartender and community college student in Nevada.

Piao and Sheree
Piao is a tax accountant who admits to having only kissed one girl in his 25 years of life, the recipient of his "sugar" most likely a female relative. Sheree actually has a degree from a university and is a business developer. (How did she even qualify for this show)?

Nate and Cecille
Nate is a Harvard University anthropology student and Cecille is a ---gasp! ...model who loves to go shopping and wants to host a travel show someday.

Drew and Erin
Drew, a "Trekkie" who looks like a young Bill Gates, goes to Marquette University where he majors in both Finance and Entrepreneurship, with a minor in Philosophy. Voice teacher Erin is a college grad and model (not a combination you typically find on this show).

Scooter and Megan
Scooter is a Harvard grad with a degree in Social Anthropology and Megan is a model and Playboy cybergirl who also graduated from college..

Mario and Nadia
Mario has a Master's Degree in theology and Nadia is a bartender/model (yep, again!) who also has a college degree. Whoa!

In the two hour premier on January 3, we got to meet them all individually and then got to observe them as teams. The females were of the usual bimbo-esque type, with the exception of Sheree, who seemed totally out of place look-wise and intellectually from her competitors. The guys were, of course, dreadfully dorky and delighted to be in the company of women who otherwise wouldn't be giving them a second glance.

The teams were assigned special tasks to rack up points and keep them in the game. The women to be able to utilize the Dewey Decimal system in order to find a specific book and also conduct a television interview with an author. The fellas had to go out on the streets and get complete strangers to do them a favor (i.e. rub suntan oil on their backs or lend them a cell 'phone, etc.). they also had to perform their own original standup at The Laugh Factory (as though the place didn't already have problems since the Michael Richards thing)!

It was apparent early on that Sanjay and Tori were not connecting and Drew and Erin were not much better.

Poor, hapless Tori's attempts to successfully locate a book proved fruitless and she actually got upset that Sanjay didn't "congratulate" her for doing a lousy interview with the writer of a book that she obvious never even bothered to read. Believe it or not, Nate and Mario were actually funny doing their brief comedy set, while the other men were painfully awful. Piao's launch into a routine in which several words had to be bleeped was just bizarre and nobody laughed.

At the conclusion of the Beauty and the Geek 3 premiere, Sanjay and Tori and Erin and Drew are exiled to the elimination room. The team that answers the most questions correctly got to stay, while the other team got to leave. I don't think anybody was surprised that Sanjay and Tori were the ones to go. Tori's ignorance was staggering and Sanjay was clueless as to how to be sensitive to a woman, so it was best that they leave the competition.

I will say one thing on Tori's behalf. At least, she was genuine. My opinion is that some of the other girls were merely playing dumb, especially since half of them had graduated from college. Since beautiful women are automatically assumed to be stupid, I supposed their reasoning must be that the more air-headed they pretend to be, the more of a chance they have of winning.

At any rate, the team that endures will win the $250,000 prize and get to return to their respective lives with a sizable amount of extra pocket change.
