Beauty and Makeup Web Sites that Really Deliver

Anne Baxter
Which beauty Web sites are a waste of time, and which ones actually help? There are a multitude of possibilities out there. Here are a handful of my favorites, and I hope they put to rest just about any beauty question you may have. The links are listed at the end of this article.

Taaz.com. This useful interactive Web site lets you upload a photo of yourself and then "try" on different hairstyles, makeup and even sunglasses. After you've settled on some makeup you love, Taaz will even offer product recommendations with prices. You can buy the merchandise right on the site! It offers beauty makeup tips and lets you know how the celebrities are wearing their makeup. There are some services within Taaz that cost money, but you can become a member of Taaz for free by providing your e-mail address and signing up.

Cosmeticsdatabase.com. Is your makeup killing you? Look up your favorite makeup products here and get the lowdown on what's in them, what dangers they pose, etc. The Food and Drug Administration stipulates that cosmetics manufacturers must list all ingredients on the side of the package, but this website will break it all down for you - which ingredients cause cancer; allergies, etc.

Cosmeticindustry.com. This site will hook you up with just about every important beauty website out there, and they are listed alphabetically, which is really helpful, along with a brief summary of what you can expect to find at each site. If you're looking for something in particular, this is the place to go.

YouTube, of course! Hey, you can read all kinds of detailed descriptions of how to put on those false eyelashes, but a video is worth a thousand words! YouTube has 261,000 makeup tutorials, to date. I think you should watch them all. Trust me, your boss won't mind. Maybe she'll even want to watch them with you.

Makeupalley.com carries reviews of many popular beauty products by reviewers worldwide. If you sign up, you can add your own reviews on the beauty products you've purchased and rate them. Maybe you can save someone else from being a "makeup victim." There's lots of fashion advice here as well.

Lovetoknow.com. I really like this site. It has everything from makeup tutorials to pictures, to give you a little artistic inspiration. It carries beauty product reviews and a helpful directory of most of the major makeup brands. Heartily recommended.

Hairfinder.com. Are you looking for inspiration for your next hair styling? Look no further. This is another site that lets you upload a picture of yourself and try out a number of different hairstyles. It also offers advice on cutting, coloring and styling, and the latest celebrity hair trends. If you're getting married soon, there are wedding hairstyling tips that could help you prepare for the Big Day.

Allnaturalbeauty.us. If you'd like to make your own beauty products, this website shows you how to make hair, skin and body products from such items as apples, yogurt, cucumbers, carrots and avocados. This is a great way to save some money, and if you have sensitive skin, you might want to spend some time on this site. I find it fascinating.

Thanks for the tips! Usually you don't know which one is a crock.
