Beauty Product Review: The Bliss Poetic Waxing Kit for Hair Removal

Rachel Bogart
There are a variety of ways you can remove body hair. You can shave, wax or burn it off with harsh chemicals. You can also get laser hair removal. But overall hair removal can be both expensive and painful. There are a variety of different products on the market today that deal with hair removal. Some products deliver good results, while others fall flat. One of my favorite hair removal methods is waxing. Waxing removes the hair below the skin to give you soft, supple skin for up to a few weeks. Waxing can also be extremely easy too, especially if you do it yourself. Some women don't like waxing themselves because of the messy wax kits and cream treatments you have to use after waxing. However, there are some great wax kits out there that are neither messy nor painful.

I have thick, coarse hair on my legs. In the past, I mostly have shaved with good results. However, some razors don't always deliver what they promise. I discovered waxing a few years ago while I was in a salon in Chicago. The salon offered full leg waxes, so I decided to try it out. Of course, it was painful, but it left my legs feeling smooth for two weeks straight. I knew I needed to keep waxing if I wanted to keep these results.

One of my favorite skincare brands is Bliss. Bliss has a wide variety of different products ranging from moisturizers to cleansers to eye creams to toners. Whatever your skincare need is, they most likely have it. What many people don't know is that Bliss also carries a wide variety of hair removal products. One product that immediately caught my attention was the Bliss Poetic Waxing Kit. The Bliss waxing kit boasts being virtually painless, effective on hair 1mm long, leaving little or no irritation, fast, and easy to use. To me, it seemed the ideal at-home waxing kit, so I decided to give it a shot. For $45, I purchased the Bliss Poetic Waxing Kit directly from the BlissWorld.com website.

When I received the Bliss Poetic Waxing Kit in the mail, the hair on my legs were over 1mm in length, so I knew it was okay to use. In order to use, you have to melt the wax on the stove. It didn't melt as easily in the microwave. There is a primer lotion and oil to prepare your skin before and after waxing. There are no strips you have to use. The wax turns into the strips as you apply it. Make sure you apply it thick enough otherwise your hair won't be removed and you might end up cutting the wax off with scissors (I learned from my mistake!). When the wax hardens, you pull off the strip in the opposite direction the hair grows in order to remove as much hair as possible.

The first time I removed one of the wax strips from the Bliss Poetic Waxing Kit it was a little painful, but not as painful as it was when I got it done in a salon. The wax also doesn't smell bad. It sort of smells like roses or a floral scent. The wax is easy to remove too, you just have to make sure you remove it at the right time when it's not too soft or too hard. Overall, it took me about 10 strips per leg to remove all the hair, which wasn't bad.

I would easily rate the Bliss Poetic Waxing Kit a 4/5. It's a quality waxing kit that delivers what it promises. It's a little pricey, but it's well worth the price. I would suggest this to anyone who is starting out waxing at home and wants a bang for their buck and a virtually painless wax.
