Dylash is a semi-permanent eyelash and brow tinting kit, costing around $10, with sixteen applications per pack, with each application claiming to last around thirty days.
Each pack comes with a one mixing / application wand, a tube of dye cream, and a pot of developer liquid; I'll be using this kit to tint my lashes, not my eyebrows, so the instructions vary a little.
Now, to tint your eyelashes, you're supposed to mix 2cm worth of the dye cream with two drops of the developer liquid, initially; the first thing I notice, however, when mixing it, is that it is extremely hard to mix; the consistency of the dye cream is very thick, and the liquid makes it a very hard combination; I found myself having to use eight of the ten allowed drops, just to get them to blend in; a stubborn feat, especially when considering the application / mixing wand is particularly flimsy.
However, once the mixture has been seen to, and all the preparation has been done (removing all eye make up, covering surrounding eye area in petroleum jelly), it's a pretty simple process; apply the dye to the eyelashes, and wait for ten minutes.
I won't pretend it was very easy to apply the actual dye, as the 'application wand' doesn't comb through the lashes, as a mascara wand would, but the eyelashes are still coated thoroughly enough to convince me it shouldn't have too much of a negative effect on the overall process.
Now, leaving it on for ten minutes isn't a problem, the mixture doesn't sting or burn, as so many tinting products do.
Wiping it off, however, is a problem; the instructions state that you should use a damp cotton bud to remove the dye - however, this only causes the dye to leak into my eye, causing an excruciating sting, and temporary blurry vision. In the end, I simply rub it from both sets of eyelashes with cotton wool, which seems to work just as well, to be honest.
The final product? I must say, my eyelashes are darker, but this is no miracle, thirty day mascara...I suppose it does do what it says on the box, and maybe I'm wrong for expecting a miracle, especially for my first use, but, overall, I don't think it's the best product on the market.
Give me good old mascara, any day!
