Beauty Product Review: Kiss Me Mascara

Janey
Kiss Me Mascara is a truly hands-down winner as far as I'm concerned. I always buy drug store makeup and it just about killed me to lay down $25 for mascara, but I have to say Kiss Me is worth it. I have always had a problem with my mascara smearing. Within just a couple of hours of using it, I am raccoon eyes. I was even to the point where I would keep a q-tip in my purse to get off the smeared mascara. It's bad when you are a slave to your mascara!

But after researching online, I decided to take the plunge and buy Kiss Me. All the reviews I read said it absolutely does not smear, and also works well people who wear contact lenses. (That's me). I found it at Sephora, and I know you can buy it online, too. I am not sure if it's available at department stores. The helpful salesperson showed me several different mascaras, but readily said if I was looking for mascara that doesn't smear, I needed to get Kiss Me.

Kiss Me works completely different than other mascaras. It "tubes" your lashes. Yes, tubes. When you comb the mascara brush through your lashes, it actually forms little tubes around each lash. I have no idea how this works so well. But for the first time ever, I had no smears under my eyes, even hours later. And I used Kiss Me on my bottom lashes, too.

The only way to remove Kiss Me is with the combination of water and pulling. You pretty much take a wet washcloth, press is to your lashes and pull down. You will actually see the little tubes on your washcloth. I will say that I am curious if the pulling is not so good for my skin. As wrinkles come into my life, I wonder about things like that.

L'Oreal has recently come out with a tube mascara, too. It is, of course, priced much lower. I think I paid about $7. While it certainly doesn't smear either, it's a little more complicated to use. Each end of the mascara tube has a brush. You first use the end that coats your lashes with a white film, and then you use the end that actually is the mascara color. It's kind of a hassle to do this. Also, the mascara tube is rather bulky and difficult to use.

With both brands, you have to do the second coat almost immediately because once the "tubes" are dry, you can't apply any more mascara. The only thing I didn't like about Kiss Me is that it doesn't do much in the way of volume or length. However, my daughter taught me one trick. Put on regular extra-volume mascara first and then apply Kiss Me over it. The tubes coat the regular mascara and yea! No smears!
