Beauty Product Review: Maybelline New York Superstay Lip Color

Maybelline New York is just one of many cosmetic companies that offer lip sticks that tout claims that include up to 18 hour wear, no rub-off and no stickiness or dried out lips. I have found Maybelline New York's Superstay Lip color to be the best of the brands tested with the most options providing ease of wear.

The first thing that you may notice about the Superstay line is the extensive array of colors. With 30 color options there is literally something for everyone and every skin tone. Hues are offered in everything from natural to berries, corals, browns, reds and many more. It would be hard to not find a color that would work for any woman's tone.

Like many of the long wearing lipsticks, the Superstay comes in one tube with two applicators. One side of the double ended tube contains the color, and the other is a lip balm that serves as a sealer and a softener. The user applies the color first, and then waits for about two minutes before applying the balm. After the balm has been applied, you are good to go.

Maybelline New York has also developed a separate Golden Shimmer balm recently that can be used in place of the standard clear balm. This not only seals and softens, but it also adds an extra bit of sparkle and shine and can alter the color just a touch. It is a great addition to an already extensive offering. Both the Golden Shimmer balm and the standard balm can be bought separate from the dual lip stick. This is a plus as the balm does tend to run out before the color itself.

The color is applied with a lip gloss-like wand. The color is long lasting and can stain, so it is advised that you apply carefully and blot with a gentle hand. Maybelline New York does offer a lip color remover specifically for the Superstay line, but it is hard to zero in on one little bump or smudge. That said the color does last all day, and even all night. It does not leave lip marks on glasses or marks on anything else.

I have used Superstay lip color now for several months and I could not be happier. The color is rich and lives up to the promises of being long lasting and "kiss proof". I would recommend this product, and with a drug store price point, it will not be a large expense that you will regret. The accessories are also inexpensive and are fun to use and experiment with. All in all, Superstay lip color is an excellent product that lives up to the claims made.
