Beauty Product Review: The Neutrogena Wave

Danie Lind
Neutrogena has a new addition to their skin care line. The Wave has hit the markets and I was lucky enough to try it out.

I have struggled with oily skin from puberty on, so I was both leery and curious about this new product given my past experience with nearly every skin care product on the market. I have heard all of the claims before, and they never seem to pan out as good as promised.

The Wave starter kit comes with the hand-held device that vibrates, batteries to make it work, and 14 pads that contain the cleaning product. There are refill packs available to purchase as well which include 30 pads and a head which you change off of the actual vibrating cleaner.

I placed the first pad on the Velcro-like head for my first facial cleaning and damped it per the instructions. The package claimed it was a foaming cleanser, so I was disappointed at first when it did not seem to be working. There was no foam. I found that I had to add a lot of water, and then there was foam a plenty!

I found that once I started, I did not want to put the Wave down! It was fun to use and felt so good on my face. That is definitely a plus because I was encouraged to keep going. The only downside is that my hand felt like it was still vibrating and a little numb after I finished. Also, the Wave itself seems a little small for my hands, and I have small hands.

I rinsed my face and was surprised with what I saw. Almost instantly my skin looked cleaner, clearer and it seemed to glow. It was closer to the peaches and cream complexion that I had been seeking for so many years.

I have since used the Wave for over a week and I have been pleased with the results. It does seem to clean deeper then just cleanser alone and I have not had any drying issues. I like the fact that you can take it into the shower with you and wash your face while you are washing everything else. One other thing that I have noticed is that the pads seem to be good for two uses. This is of course up to you, and the directions say to replace the pad after every use, but I have been successful with reusing the pad one additional time. I would not recommend using it more then twice, though. It does not seem to foam at all at that point.

Over all I would recommend the Neutrogena Wave. The price point may seem high, but the kit is ready to use with no additional purchase. There are also many coupons available both online, and for replacement pads in the box itself. It is gentle enough for everyday use, but still seems to clean deeply and I have noticed an improvement in my skin.
