Beauty Tip: How to Create Sexy Nude Lips

Sophia S. Mark
Creating the perfect nude lip just takes a little know how; the perfect shade needs to be used to flatter your skin and keep your lips from blending in too much with your skin color. Luckily, no matter what your skin tone is, creating sexy nude lips is possible.

Here are a few tips to help you get this summer look right and a couple products to help you achieve the look.

Before you begin applying any lip liner, lipstick, or gloss use a lip scrub to exfoliate your lips. A good exfoliant will remove any flaking skin and smooth out your lips, allowing any beauty products you use to last longer. Try The Lip Scrub by Sara Happ which comes in scents like cocoa and vanilla bean.

Line your lips with a nude lip liner that is one shade darker than your skin tone to make sure that your lips will stand out from the rest of your face. Fill in the rest of your lip with a lighter shade of lip liner for a base.

To create a sexy nude lip you need to use lipstick that is sheer and has a subtle shimmer, if you opt for a lipstick without shimmer use a gloss that has some shimmer. Using gloss will take your nude lips from natural looking to pouty, try a shade that will blend into your lipstick color. There are some glosses you can use with enough color and shimmer of their own eliminating the need to use lipsitck. Almay's new collection of lipstick, Hydracolor Lipstick with SPF 15, with an added dose of moisture, includes several shades that are perfect for creating a nude lip and goes on light and sheer.

If your skin is fair look for cool nudes such as a shade of peach. Try slightly pinker shades with a beige base the more olive your skin gets. Avoid anything lighter than peach which will create a washed out look. Also, when you are using shades this light it is better to opt for gloss over lipstick because you will have more options, sheer lipstick in lighter shades are hard to come by.

For medium to dark skin tones use warm nudes like honey and gold nudes. In this case you want to find a shade with a yellow tint to it so that your lips stand out from your skin and still maintain a natural looking tint. Pure Color Crystal Lipstick by Estee Lauder is super sheer and has a perfect shimmer, the Dulce de Leche shade is perfect for medium skin tones.

All you have to do now is pucker up!

Great ideas. My nude lips are truly nude - nothing on 'em.

I love the idea of "nude" lips. So many people use such bright colors. Thanks for the information.
