Job interviews are nerve-wracking, no matter how old you are or how many interviews you've been on. But, over-preparing for a job interview can psych us out to the point of blowing it completely.
Sure, it's important to research some potential questions you might be asked (don't forget to have answers prepared in advance!), but don't forget about your looks, too. You might be the smartest chick on the block, but no matter how smart you are, people do judge books by their covers. Clothes and makeup for your job interview can be just as important as what comes out of your mouth! If you are looking to ace your job interview, bear some of these beauty tips in mind.
Don't overdo makeup
For a job interview, you want to look as neat as possible. But remember not to overdo it. There are plenty of online makeup tutorials for simple, professional makeup looks. Makeup for a job interview should be neutral. Leave the brightly colored eye shadows on the shelf and opt for a nude or beige shade close to your skin tone.
Pluck your eyebrows
Never underestimate the importance of your eyebrows! More people notice them than you think. Eyebrows frame your eyes, and eye contact is key in a job interview. The bottom line is that messy brows look unkempt. Show your interviewer that you pay attention to details: don't forget your brows!
If your nails must be painted... red, pink, or French only.
This one is self-explanatory. If you're going on a job interview, keep your nails simple, too. Uncomfortable going bare-nailed? Opt for a shade of red, pink or beige. A job interview isn't the best place to show off your love for electric blue.
Skip the suit
A common misconception is that you have to wear a suit for a job interview. That's not true! It's perfectly okay to get a little creative with your professional outfits. For example, instead of a pantsuit, go for a pencil-skirt and a button-down shirt. The outfit will be able to better reflect your personality than a stuffy pantsuit.
Go for body mist, not perfume
Perfume is something a lot of human resources professionals will tell you to skip on job interviews. It's true that perfume can be obnoxious in an interview setting. You may love your scent, but your interviewer may hate it or worse--be allergic to it. But you don't have to stick to just deodorant and soap. A body mist in a fresh scent like citrus or cucumber melon is perfect for a job interview.
There are endless tips for acing a job interview, but preparation is your best bet. If you're prepared physically and mentally, walk into your interview with confidence and end your job search. Best of luck!

Post a Commentexcellent! thanks!
These are great tips! I just had an interview not long ago and I went light on the makeup AND skipped out on the suit.
When I interview I avoid candidates that overdo the makeup and hair products. Good tips to follow.
Good tips. I was always told to wear little make-up if any for job interviews.
