Beauty Treatments with Coffee Grounds

Home Remedies

I'm a huge coffee drinker. Love it. I have anywhere between one to three cups a day. I love all sorts of coffee, and not just the kind from Starbucks. I like it dark and strong. One day as I was dumping out the brewed coffee grounds I thought 'Hm...wonder what I could do with this stuff?' Having watched numerous beauty videos on Youtube I knew there had to be something, and after doing some research I found five ways to put my coffee grounds to use, un-brewed and brewed. A few I already knew about, others were new to me.

One of the things I didn't know that brewed coffee grounds could be used for is to aid in softening and adding shine to hair. How you do this is to rub coffee grounds through wet hair and then rinse it out. This method will also add highlights to dark hair.

Coffee grounds are also good exfoliants. Just pat it on your skin or combine it with a gel cleanser and massage it over your skin, then rinse. Sure, you might smell a little like coffee but the scent should fade. If you don't like the smell of coffee, well, I'm not really sure why you would be drinking coffee in the first place. The aroma is part of the joy of drinking coffee. Of course, this isn't limited to your face, it also makes a wonderful body scrub. Just add a few tablespoons of olive, mineral or Jojoba oil.

A few other things you can do with coffee grounds that I have heard about is to reduce cellulite and help with losing inches off your body. I've heard many times on several doctor shows that coffee, because of it's caffeine, before a workout helps jump start the metabolism.

Now, as to how you'd use it to reduce cellulite. This could get messy so it's best done when you're showing. What you do is rub the coffee grounds on the area with cellulite for a few minutes everyday. What it's suppose to do is aid in breaking down fatty deposits. I've personally never tried this myself so I have no idea if it works. But I do know that many cellulite products contain caffeine.

This last home treatment is suppose to help you lose five to ten inches all over your body in about an hour, and it requires using un-brewed coffee grounds. What you'll also need is saran wrap, and yes, you'll be wrapping yourself with it. Start off by rubbing fresh un-brewed coffee rounds all over your body, or the areas you want to lose the inches, and then wrap those areas with saran wrap. This last step is important. You'll need to find a warm place to sit for about thirty minutes to an hour. The warmer the better. The idea is that sweating is suppose to help you shed the water weight and the caffeine aids in the rest. It sounds crazy, but it actually works. Of course, the best way to keep those inches off is to exercise obviously.

So there you go, five home beauty treatments from head to toe that incorporate coffee grounds. Some of them are kind of wacky, but they seem to work. If you don't mind the smell of coffee, definitely try it.
