The Eyes Have It

Larger-than-life eyes are back with a bang! From exaggerated false eyelashes to sultry eye shadow shades, the center of attention is definitely focused on the eyes. While lashes are played up, harsh eyeliners and thick brows have been softened. The overall look for eyes this spring is playful. Look for softer blends, brighter colors and bigger lashes.

Spring Eyebrow Trends

The trend for eyebrows is natural, but neat. Allow your brows to grow naturally and pluck or trim only those "out of control" hairs. Use a brow brush to sweep the eyebrow hairs up and out toward your temple. This gives your brows a soft, natural look and has the added benefit of low maintenance.

Spring Eye Shadow Trends

Eye shadow colors this spring are soft with a heavy emphasis on pastel and bright colors. Depending on your mood, these palettes can create a soft "doe eyed" look, a playful look, or a bold look. Use a primer before applying bright shades and the colors will be brighter yet. Define the look by using contrasting eyeliner shades, such as violet, on both the top and bottom lids.

Spring Eyelashes Trends

Finally, pay attention to your lashes! Heavy mascara and false eyelashes have made a comeback. Apply your mascara liberally - coat after coat after coat. Heavy mascara is perfect for both understated and overstated eye shadow styles. When you're going for a more natural eye shadow effect, the heavy lashes define your eyes; when you're going bold, you absolutely need thick, well-defined eyelashes to balance out the look. If you're feeling particularly playful, use false eyelashes.

False Eyelashes

False eyelashes give you a fresh look and frame your eyes. However, there's more to them than simply sticking them on your eyelids. Take the time to learn how to apply and trim them. For example, the lashes themselves should be trimmed for a more natural look as well as the actual length of the lash that goes across your eyelid.

Eyelash Extensions

Not only can you apply and wear false eyelashes at whim, you may also be interested in eyelash extensions. Eyelash extensions are fairly expensive, but if you love thick lashes and don't want to mess with applying heavy coats of mascara or gluing on false eyelashes, extensions may be a terrific choice.

The eyes clearly have it this spring. To keep the attention focused on your eyes, use neutral colors on the rest of your face and downplay your lips.
