Beauty Without Cruelty Product Review: A 100 Percent Vegetarian Hairspray-BWC

Sea Shepherd
I have been writing now for a while about how I wanted to be as organic as possible or at least with fewer chemicals with my personal care products. One product that is hard to have totally organic is hair spray. Let's face it, you need alcohol in all hair spray or it just won't hold. So, I'm doing the next best thing by going with Beauty Without Cruelty (BWC) hair spray. BWC botanical formulated hairspray is one hundred per cent vegetarian and paraben free. Best of all, Beauty Without Cruelty holds your hair.

BWC has an interesting history on how the company was founded. The story goes that there was an intense passion and commitment concerning animals and the cruelty that was placed on them with inhumane testing when it came to the cosmetic industry. Kathleen Long and Lady Dowding of England wanted to alter this practice. So what began with a passion developed into a world wide cosmetic company with high standards for consumers and manufactures alike. Kathleen Long passed away in 1969, however her partner Lady Dowding continued with the operations and BWC cosmetics became one of the leading brands fighting against animal cruelty.

This is my first purchase of BWC products, their hair spray. It is made up of botanical extracts of lavender, ginseng, cucumber and rosemary, along with panthenol (vitamin B factor), butyl ester of pvm/ma copolymer (thickener and hair fixative), and vitamin E. The gentle recipe of this product holds the hair well without stripping away the natural oils. Your hair does not become dry like it might with some other hair sprays. The plant products and the aloe vera create body and shine. The fragrance is a pleasant somewhat earthy floral without being over powering.

The cost of this product which is eight and a half ounces retails for $7.95 which can be purchased on the Beauty Without Cruelty website. However, I found it cheaper for $5.17 at LuckyVitamin.com website. LuckyVitamin.com has a flat rate of $5.95 up to ten pounds of products. LuckyVitamin sells a variety of personal care products among other items. I have been using LuckyVitamin.com now for a couple of months and find a lot of good and affordable organic products.

Like I mentioned before, it is impossible to find a hair spray that is totally organic because you need the alcohol in hairspray to help the hold. BWC hair spray comes as close as you can get.
