Because of Love

Anne Therese McCorkell
Two writers, we met on the Internet.

We fell in love writing to each other.

Surviving triple aneurisms, you sought to pass a test,

And rambled about the Catholic Church.

I offered my prayer for help.

I cried distraught about skin cancer.

"Anne, you're beautiful," you wrote.

A BAND-AID upon my nose on our first date,

You smiled and said it made me sexy.

I smiled and flirted back at you.

Two years have suddenly passed,

Since we married civilly and in church,

Fast asleep tonight, I tucked you in

I whispered, "I love you"

You answered, "I'll always love you"

Three surgeries you've survived this year

You cried, "I've found you, now I'll lose you"

"You'll never lose me, I won't let you"

"Promise me, you'll spend eternity with me"

"I'm yours eternally, Baby"

Today you held me very close

God taught me a very hard lesson

He gave you back to me three times

I won't ever take you for granted

Not everyone gets three chances
