Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine Review - The Coal Mine
The focal point of a visit to the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine is the mine tour itself. Visitors ride into the mine on carts that run on the mine's old tracks. The temperature in the mine is chilly at about 58 degrees Fahrenheit. The tour takes visitors to various exhibits inside the mine which show how the production of coal was completed at various periods in history. Tours of the mine are conducted by retired miners who share their personal experiences with the visitors. Questions are encouraged and cameras are allowed.
Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine Review - The Coal Town
Located around the entrance to the mine is a coal town that is made up of authentic coal company town buildings. Many of the buildings were brought to the site from regional mines. The buildings are decorated in period items and have tour guides that provide information and answer questions. Some of the buildings at the coal town include a church, miner's home, bachelor miner's home, company superintendent home, and school house.
Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine Review - The Company Store / Coal Museum
The company store / coal museum offers displays of photographs and other memorabilia of the life in the coal towns as well as a gift shop. Tickets for the coal mine and town are sold in the company store.

Near to theBeckley Exhibition Coal Mine is also a Children's Museum and Mountain Homestead. The Children's Museum offers interactive exhibits to entertain and educate. The Mountain Homestead provides a look into the pioneer period of the region.

The Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine is located off of Interstate 77 at Exit 44. Signs are posted before the exit on the Interstate and along the route to the mine.
