The materials needed to build skateboard ramps are a brace, a saw, a hammer, some nails, wood boards both 2X4's and 2X6's, a tape measure, plywood, a pencil and paper. Once all the materials are gathered we can begin to build skateboard ramps.
The first step is the designing of the skateboard ramp. This will give you an idea of what you want the ramp to look like. Once you select a design, you now have to decide on the size, and the height of the ramp.
Sketch out the curves on the plywood. This will serve as a template for making similar pieces. Use the saw and carefully cut the sketched pieces out being as precise as possible.
Now using the 2X6's and 2X4's, make the skeleton of your skateboard ramp. Make sure to make the boards as wide as possible. Also keep the plywood cutouts so the measurements of the boards will be proportionate to the plywood. With the two wood boards, build skateboard ramps by placing them securely on the framework. For support, place two boards below the ramp. Next, measure the height for the transition. Cut the plywood, and nail or screw them to the framework.
When you build skateboard ramps, always make sure the foundation is stable, as to prevent any accidents from happening. Also remember to build the structure on a flat and even surface. Make sure the wood that you use is treated to withstand any weather conditions. If the treated wood is unavailable, you can use a couple sheets of plywood and place them together to give the necessary support.
Now that you have your very own skateboard ramp in your backyard, you can practice skateboarding at your own convenience. Skateboarding requires a lot of dedication and practice that is why it is important to start off with basic moves and progress gradually. Remember to always wear the proper safety equipment like knee pads and other protective gear, while you skateboard. With the above instructions you will be able to build skateboard ramps and skateboard your way to becoming a pro.
