Step 1
Create a free blog using blogger or wordpress. Initially I used blogger and found it much easier to manage but now I prefer wordpress and their layouts. Both are simple enough and it is very easy to get started.
Step 2
Pick a specific topic you wish to cover. This is normally referred to as a niche. It is important to pick an area you have an interest in or are knowledgeable about so that you have the motivation and words to update it regularly. There is no point in picking something like football if you detest it. However there are some topics which will attract more interest than others so perhaps you want to remember this when picking your specific niche.
Step 3
Pick a domain name for your blog, and make this the title also. Here again make sure the title is specific to what you are going to blog about. If you are going to talk about weight loss, you could put your domain as weightlosstips.blogspot.com, and title your blog weight loss tips. Professional bloggers often include their blog keyword in their domain and title to get more hits.
Step 4
Write quality posts regularly and ping them using a service such as pingoat. You should also include keywords in your posts in the right keyword density so that if someone searches for these keywords they will see your post appearing in the search engines.
Step 5
Submit your blog to search engines using submit express and some blog directories such as link referral and mybloglog.
Step 6
Add google adsense to your blog. You can place a mixture of text and image ads in many different formats and colours. Choose colours that disguise the ads and make them blend into the text of your site.
Step 7
Add affiliate products to your blog, ones that are specific to the blog niche.
Step 8
Create many back links for your blog using ezinearticles, digg, stumbleupon, reddit and other social networking sites. This will raise the pr of your blog and make it rank higher in search engines thus increasing the chance of someone visiting your site and earning you adsense revenue or an affiliate product sale.
Blogging takes patience and you probably will not see much revenue for a month or so, but if you work consistently on your blog content and back links you should see some revenue starting to come in after first few months.
