1- Learn from others.
You don't always have to make a mistake to learn that certain behaviors are wrong. Take a page out of another person's story and dissect what worked and what didn't. Normally, you can do this without ever leaving your house.
2- Cherish reading books.
You can become wise by reading books on the subject you want to understand. Oprah Winfrey is an avid reader and you can tell that she's applied all of the knowledge she's gained to create a fabulous career. Go to the library and check out books that can help you also build on a certain area of your life.
3- Enjoy trying new things.
You will never expand your mind by hanging around the same people and doing the same activities over and over again. Try new things. Go out of the country. Volunteer for a shelter. Be friend someone who doesn't look like you. All of these activities will build character and help you see the world in a different way.
4- Follow religious figures.
Following the ins-and-outs of purpose-driven people like Jesus, Gandhi and Martin Luther King can help you become wise. Through them, you can learn a variety of philosophies in regards to love, happiness, and work. You can use their work to adjust your approach to almost anything.
5- Assess your mistakes.
Unfortunately, our mistakes often teach us the best lessons. So, after you make a big one, dissect the how's, when's and why's. Figure out what led you down the wrong path and determine how you can avoid taking that road in the future.
6- Make friends with the elderly.
Even an old fool can help you become wise. Elderly people have a lifetime of experience - good and bad - that can teach you about different situations. Make friends with someone over sixty-five and they'll warn you when you're about to fall in to a dubious trap.
7- Understand your weaknesses.
No one knows everything. Wise people like Donald Trump surround themselves with advisors who can make up for their weaknesses. You should too. Allow an expert to help you in an area that you don't understand like taxes.
These seven tips will help you become wise. Use them and build up a life based on common sense.
