Becoming a Tattoo Artist

Sierra Gooding
Tattoos are a work of art. I have been a tattoo artist for years now, and it only gets better and better. The community of tattoo artist grows and grows, and has now become a legend. In a world of unemployment, why are people still spending money on tattoos? Because they need to express themselves!

I have had the best experience being a tattoo artist. It is artistically rewarding, lucrative, and I have received the artistic attention that is so hard to come by in other forms. Have you ever gone into an art studio or gallery and applied for a job? No! It just does not work like that. This is the only way that an artist truly gets paid and recognized without struggling. Not to mention, free tattoos.

Next time your are driving though town, take a gander as to how many tattoo parlors you are seeing. Then, think about how long the have been around. Compare their longevity to the boutique next door. You may be surprised!

The ideal location for applying as a tattoo artist or opening a tattoo parlor is in large college towns, with some sort of military base, and as close to busy bars as possible. It is a really good idea to find an area near some sort of weekly event, like a Farmer's Market. Here, you have a huge piece of the market. Not only do you have college students wanting to express themselves with their parent's money, you have the frat boys wanted to show off their new brotherhood. You have the college sports fans wanting to advertise their devotion. You have different forums of military status just dying to show there commitment to their country. You've also got the band members that perform for the students in those nearby bars. Finally you will have a few hour of free advertising with the attention of a local and weekly event like a Farmer's Market.

Your first step however, is getting trained. Think about this new career.
