Many women, and even men, have always dreamed of becoming a wedding planner. However, with little information available to them through high schools or even colleges, many do not even know where to start planning for their future as a wedding planner. Here, you will be informed about what you need to do in order to become a wedding planner, as well as what the job entails and other things that you should be sure to take into consideration when making the decision to become one.

What Exactly A Wedding Planner Does

Before you make the decision to become a wedding planner, chances are that you may be wondering exactly what a wedding planner does. Many think that wedding planning is a piece of cake. If you have never planned your own wedding before, you may not realize how stressful planning a wedding can be. Some of the many tasks that a wedding planner has to take on include finding a band, a photographer, a catering service, a florist, and even a venue for the bride and groom. Then you must be the one who acts as the spokesman for the bride and groom. Since many brides and grooms are looking for a wedding planner who can help them get the best deals, it is important for you to build good connections with services in the area which can help provide those deals when they work with you on a frequent basis. One of the most important skills that a wedding planner needs to have is being able to manage time well, as everything will need to get done in time for the wedding.

What You Need to Do to Become a Wedding Planner

The only thing that you really need to do in order to become a wedding planner is take financing courses. Some wedding planners make the decision to take these courses for only a year, without earning any type of degree. Others decide to earn an associate's degree or even a bachelor's degree in business management, or any other type of business or financial-related major. Keep in mind that the higher the level of education that you have, the more credibility you will earn for yourself. Most recommend wedding planners to earn at least an associate's degree.

Things That You Should Think About Before Becoming a Wedding Planner

Although there is no doubt that wedding planners are frequently used, there are some areas where they may not be in such high demand. The main key is doing a little bit of research in order to find out how commonly used wedding planners are in your own area. If they are not used, you have several options - you can decide to take the risk of not earning as much money as you would like or you could decide to move to another area. Of course, these are just to name a few of your options. The most important thing is for you to realize what you will be facing as a wedding planner in your own area.

Expenses Involved With Becoming a Wedding Planner

There are many expenses which are involved with becoming a wedding planner. One of the expenses is, of course, the cost of attending college. Some of the other expenses which you will need to think about include the cost of advertising, the cost of renting or owning an office, and the cost of computer software. Lastly, but very importantly, you will also need to think about the cost of purchasing a wardrobe which is suitable enough for attending weddings, as the wedding planner will typically attend.

The Amount of Money a Wedding Planner Earns

The amount of money that a wedding planner earns really depends on the wedding planner. You will get to charge as much as you want, but if you want to do the most business, you will probably want to make sure that your services are affordable enough for the average couple to afford. Many wedding planners charge between five and ten percent of the cost of the wedding. Of course, the cost of a wedding will vary. In some cases, there may be $60,000 spent on a wedding, whereas in other cases there may only be $10,000 spent on a wedding.
