The River Walk Inn is a Dutch Colonial house built in 1931, when it was the only structure in the immediate area, surrounded by orchards and fields. It retains that 1930s charm in owners Richard and Donna Cribbs' use of vintage teapots and antiques. The rooms are bright and airy, a plus in Oregon's oft-rainy climate. A library on the lower floor, along with a large fireplace and sitting room, adds to the ambiance.
Breakfast at the River Walk Inn features dishes such as Cranberry-Pecan Scones and Pumpkin Pancakes. In addition, tea and snacks are available in the library at all times, and evening port in library is a relaxing way to end your day.
Bicycles are available to borrow for rides around Eugene or along the river. Free wireless internet with a laptop is also provided. There are also special event weekend packages, such as the "Wine Weekend" which includes two nights of tasting Willamette Valley wines, appetizers, and a dinner certificate for two, as well as winery tour maps and more. The cost for a couple runs from $240 to $320, depending on the room size.
Other packages include one entitled "Oh, My Aching Back" - one night at the B&B with a massage in your room ($160 for one person with a one hour massage, or $210 for two people, with a 45 minute massage each). There are also craft weekends, featuring one night's stay plus a craft activity such as Broken China Mosaic or a Summer Hat Decorating Party; and "Dinner and Distraction", one night's stay, a certificate for one of Eugene's outstanding restaurants, and a ticket to a movie.
A yearly event also held at the B&B is the Annual Holiday Sale, featuring arts and crafts from many local artists. Paintings, cards, knit goods, ceramics and more are available in each of the rooms, allowing you to browse both floors and enjoy the décor while you shop. Donna also provides treats such as her Bake Brie - hot from the oven, and topped with pecans and brown sugar, served with sourdough bread; and hot apple cider. She also often offers for sale some of her collection of antique teapots, which adorn the various rooms of the River Walk Inn.
The River Walk Inn is located at 250 N. Adams Street in Eugene, Oregon. Their toll-free phone number is 1-800-621-2904, or they can be reached by email at innkeeper@ariverwalkinn.com
