This site allows you to search the United States and Canada, state by state for bed bug infestations at motels and hotels you may want (or not want) to stay at. It also accepts information on apartments for rent that may have a bed bug infestation in the building or nearby.
Reportedly, this information is added by users that have encountered the bed bug problem, so just how accurate it is, is any body's guess. It would be awful to report a bed bug infestation in a nice hotel just because you are upset with them about something, but it appears that anyone can search a particular motel to see if there are any reports filed, or they can file a report them self.
The site does however list a lot of good information about bed bugs and what to do if you suspect you have stayed somewhere that has an infestation. The site has a good resource section that advices you on how to educate yourself about bed bugs. Do you check motel rooms for signs of bed bugs when you first enter it? Me neither! I bet I will now.
The site called Bed Bug Registry was started in 2006 and claims to have 20,000 reports of bed bug infestations within its database. That's a lot of bugs! The site does have a disclaimer that acknowledges the fact that these reports are coming from users and that they have no way of knowing if the report is true or not.
Bed bugs are tiny little creatures that seem to have no rhyme or reason for their desire to infest homes, motels, offices or even grander places. A report on Bedbugger.com even sates that Carnegie Hall has been checking for bed bugs, even using canines to sniff them out! They claim to have no infestation in the auditoriums, but state that an employee's locker was infested.
Bed bugs seem to have made a huge comeback from the days that we all thought it was just a silly little phrase! Did you really think bed bugs existed when you were younger? Apparently they do, and they are putting a whole new twist to the phrase, "Don't let the bed bugs bite!" Makes you itch just reading this, doesn't it?
