For thousands of years, many cultures have held the belief that the blood is the life essence of humans and animals alike. If this belief is accurate, these nasty little bugs are literally sucking the life out of you.
If the blood sucking thing isn't creepy enough, there is also the fact that bed bug bites can lead to physical or mental health issues. These issues can range from irritating skin rashes to a mental condition called Refractory Delusional Parasitosis.
The latter condition, also called Delusion of Parasitosis exists when a person genuinely believes that their body is infested with parasites. In their mind, they actually feel things crawling on or under their skin.
The wounds (bites) caused when these pests pierce the skin can range from no reaction to a serious allergic reaction. For your convenience, you can view some bed bug bite pictures by following one of the links at the end of this article.
If your home is infested, you must immediately start an effective bed bugs treatment process. The cost of professional pest services can end up costing you thousands. On the other hand, you can usually do it yourself for well under $300.
Eradicating bedbugs is no simple task. It requires planning and effective pesticides. You must also exercise caution when buying supplies and materials. Some work, some don't.
Cimex lectularius, the common bedbug is now immune to organophosphate and pyrethroid based insecticides. This fact is one of the reasons why the cost of eradication is going through the roof.
Treatment Options
So what are your options when it comes to bed bugs treatment? Read on to learn about the pros and cons of one of the most commonly used treatment solutions for these pests.
When plagued by these bugs, most people turn to insecticide fog products. While this solution is convenient, they may not be as effective as you have been led to believe. Most people use these foggers as a primary solution. Unfortunately, it usually takes much more than this to rid yourself of bed bug infestations.
Fog-type pesticides are generally good for quick knock-down of exposed bed bugs. However, the fogs created by these products often cannot reach into the nooks and crevices where these parasites live and reproduce.
You should be especially cautious when shopping, as some of these products reportedly have misleading labels. They claim they are effective, when in truth they are not. You must be certain that the products you purchase are specifically formulated for bedbugs.
Another problem with fog-type products is over-use. This is due to the fact that people have difficulty calculating square footage ratios for coverage areas. Instead of taking the time to figure it out, most throw caution to wind and end up using insecticide than necessary.
