Bed jumping is actually the act of jumping on a bed and trying to get the best picture or video of a jumper being mid air. Like there is no gravity in the room. And pictures and videos galore are on the Internet. The biggest and best website I have found on bed jumping is at BedJump.com and is a riot to go over there and see.
Bed jumping dates back to at least 2006 but the Internet has started fueling it and some hotels/motels have actually advertised bed jumping events. Bed jumping is also an International "sport". To be fair, the act of jumping on a bed is a bit of great exercise. Got tension from a hard day? Jump on a bed for a while and see if the tension as melted away. Yes, would be my answer.
But with all the hoopla of jumping on a bed and all of the fun, are there cons to meet the pros of bed jumping? Yes, there were good reasons for our parents to yell at us for jumping on beds. I didn't run across any negative articles about bed jumping, but I am willing to be one of the first.
The beds take a beating. We aren't just talking about lightweight kids jumping on beds. We are talking about adults of all ages and weights. How much abuse can a bed take before it breaks? Do all hotels and motels want bed jumping to be done in their establishments? How about injuries incurred from landing wrong or totally missing the bed altogether? If there is an injury is the motel or hotel held responsible for it? Will this affect the hotel or motel's insurance premiums? How much racket is there when someone in the room above yours is bed jumping?
Is bed jumping a subject that needs to be talked about with your kids? They may respect your wishes at home, but what are they doing outside of the home? Could you be held responsible if bed jumping happens at your house when you're gone and someone gets hurt? Can you be sued if someone gets hurt at your home or business during bed jumping?
With all of the information on the Internet about where and how to do bed jumping. I don't see many horror stories about it. But bed jumping is catching on all over the world now and chances are that injuries from bed jumping are still to come. Both financial and physical.

Post a CommentYes-Kids have always loved to do this-but I didn't know it was now an internet craze with the pics in mid-air-I almost decided I'd made a mistake in choosing to read some of your articles when I saw this title and wondered how you could say there were pros. Lol
Boy! you pulled me in with the subject title!
Thanks for the warning.
I love my bed too much to do anything that may harm it. LOL
This sounds like fun. I used to pretend my bed was a trampoline.. lots of fun!
My grands has provided us with several mid-air snapshots. I sure hope they do not get themselves hurt.
Weird you should mention bed jumping. We had a Christmas party Staurday night and some of the guests brought their kids. When the party was over, I went to tidy up and discovered every bed in the house had been jumped on. Sounds like something I would have done.
:D
Did it when I was about 7, bashed my head on the nightstand and still have the spot where the scar divides one of my eyebrows....I'm just sayin'
bed jumping has been around since there have been kids who jump on beds, it is really old the internet is a baby lol
