Are you looking for ways to make your small bedroom appear larger? Small master bedrooms can be difficult to decorate. There are better options than selling all of your furniture and camping out on the floor. Try these tips to increase your bedroom's function and appeal.

Using Paint Color in a Small Master Bedroom

You don't have to be afraid of bold colors. You can paint your walls a bold blue or yellow. This can even take attention away from the small space. Remember that light will reflect off your walls and give your entire room a color cast. Avoid dark purples and reds. These colors will give a saturate your bedroom and make it look smaller than it is.

Make sure you do not paint the ceiling a dark color. This will give a closed in feeling to the room. So, if you choose a bold paint color for the walls, use a light shade in the same color family for the ceiling. You could also always leave the ceiling white.

Decorating Ideas for Shelves

Look up! Cover your walls with shelves to get your bedroom clutter off your nightstand. You can give the bedroom a unified look by using shelves that are stained the same color or made of the same material. For an eclectic look, use shelving of various colors and textures.

If you own a large collection of books, get rid of the bookshelf standing in the corner of your room and place the books on wall shelves instead. This will free up floor space in the master bedroom while adding wall decor.

Small Bedroom Decorating Ideas for Bedding

Your mantra should be, "simplify, simplify, simplify" when it comes to bedding. Don't overwhelm your vision with a cluttered bed. As the bed takes up the most space in a small bedroom, a cluttered bed will make the rest of the room seem cluttered as well.

Don't fret over coming up with bedroom decorating ideas for your bedding. A fitted sheet, flat sheet, simple comforter, and four pillow is plenty. If you have chosen to paint your walls with a bold color, cover your bed with a simple comforter. If you have chosen a neutral color for your walls, you can get away with using a comforter with interesting patterns.

Empty Space and the Small Bedroom

Empty space is good space when it comes to decorating a small bedroom. Make sure you have enough room to walk between all pieces of furniture. Leave some blank spaces on your walls. After all, you want to see that beautiful paint color you picked out.

These bedroom decorating ideas can get you started, but make sure to incorporate your own style and taste. Adding your signature style while decorating your master bedroom will make it more inviting to you than anything else.
