Bedroom Tips when Guests Arrive

During the warmer months people tend to travel more than then would during the winter months. Family and friends may go to exotic places and stay in hotels and sometimes find a relative close by to stay with when they travel. Visiting family is a wonderful way to keep in touch and share more than a few phone calls, letter or emails. Having a relative or friend stay in your home can give one a lot to think about. There are preparations that need to be considered before that guest or guests arrive at the front door. Here are a few ideas and tips to think about the next time someone stays with you for a few days or a week or two.

· Keep things you may be storing in your guest room (winter coats, gloves, hats) organized and stored under the bed. This gives your guests more room in the closets.

· If you are expecting a guest, visit the guest room and make sure the bed has been made and the room has been aired out. Weather permitting, open up a window for a little bit to freshen the room.

· Place a power strip in the guest room so your guest can charge their cell phone, music device, camera and computer all at the same time.

· Welcome a guest into your home with a clean dresser top for their keys, phones, wallets and purses. Placing decorative trays and/or boxes on the dressers, for your guests use, will help save your furniture's finish. Some fresh cut flowers are always welcoming.

· Have a lamp available that fits on the bedside table so your guest can read at night. For extra comfort, make sure the switch is easily reachable when lying down.

· When guests stay overnight, it's always nice to offer different pillow options. Store any extra pillows you have in the guest room so your company can find the one that's just right.

· Your guest many have an early morning or be recovering from jet lag. Having a clock in their room gives them the ability to set an alarm or easily know what time it is without bothering anyone else in the house.

·

For those in Winona who have homes that are too small to accommodate any additional people, there are places in the area that are reasonable where guests can be put up during their stay in the area.
