Lay Me Down to Sleep
This prayer has been used for ages. It's a brief rhyming prayer that is good for boys or girls. You could print it, frame it and place it in your child's room so he can get familiar with it. Say this prayer with your child until he memorizes it. If you like, kneel by the bedside or sit on the bed together.
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
See me safely through the night,
And wake me with the morning light.
Amen!
Thankful Prayer
It is good to be thankful for the things we have. Teach your child to have a thankful attitude by teaching him this prayer.
God, My Father, I thank you,
I thank you for everything you do.
Thank you for my blanket and my comfy bed
Thank you for my home where I lay my little head.
Thank you for Mom, Dad, and all my family
Now here is a kiss from you to me. Amen!
(This prayer end with a blown kiss to God.)
Gentle Jesus
Gentle Jesus, hear my prayer
Keep me in your tender care
Be my guide in all I do
And help me live my life for you
Bless my family, my pets and my friends.
Amen!
Now the Night Has Come
Father, now the night has come
And all my work and play is done
This has been a happy day
Now I come to you and pray
Bless the children everywhere
Keep us in your loving care
While we sleep and while we wake
Bless us all for Jesus' sake.
Boys Pray
Dear God,
When I play in the day
And when I rest at night
You my God, are my guiding light
I need your presence
To help me sleep and rest
So tomorrow, dear Lord
I can give you my best
I am just a boy
All that is true
But God uses boys
For important things too!
I give you my hands
I give you my feet
I give you my heart
And I lay down to sleep
Amen!
