Beef Rib Eye Roast is This the Same as Prime Rib?

GK
With the middle section of the beef comes the prime rib. This is not actually the prime meat on a beef. Prime rib can be choice cut or any cut as long as the marbling and the rib section of the beef.

When prime rib is cut there are approximate 12 bones on the rib. The middle of the ribs is the prime cut of meat. This would be considered the prime rib roast. A person could purchase a prime rib roast with the bones or with out the bones.

Prime rib comes in three different forms of cuts. With the bone on the roast, by placing the ribs on the bottom of the pan will give the roast an extra flavor and help the bottom from cooking faster. Prime rib also comes with out the bone and another cut would be a prime rib normally tied with a small robe to keep it tight while cooking.

Beef rib eye roast is a cut off the prime rib on the ends to make this roast. Normally will be no bones with this type of roast and the marbling and tenderness of the roast will not be the same as the prime rib roast. Rib eye roast is cut across the muscle of the prime rib in small cut size. Usually 2 to 3 pounds for a normal size rib eye roast.

When cooking beef rib eye roast, season with salt, garlic and other seasonings of choice. Place in a roast pan and place in the oven at 325 degrees. With using a meat thermometer check every half hour for the temperature of the center of the roast. Like prime rib rare is around 120, medium is around 130 and well done is around 140.

Unlike the prime rib the beef eye roast will not continue to cook once it is done. Once done take out of the oven let rest 15 to 20 minutes and slice thin to serve.

Serving beef eye roast with a little juice from the roast will give extra flavor and juice to the roast. Beef eye roast can be served with a choice of potato and side dishes of ones taste.

When choosing a beef eye roast remember to allow a pound of meat per person and look for the cross cut against the muscle of the beef.
