Beef Stew: Slow Cooked to Perfection!

Lori S.
A different type of beef stew than you're used to.

Ingredients:

3 lbs. of cubed stew meat
1 onion
2 McCormick Beef Stew Seasoning Packets (DO NOT follow the recipe on the back of the packet)
24 ounces of your favorite brand of tomato sauce
3 cloves of whole garlic
8 potatoes, peeled or unpeeled (whatever your preference)
6 carrots, peeled
1 full stalk of celery
salt and pepper (to taste)

Stock Pot

1.Cut the onion into quarters; mince the garlic; cut the potatoes into quarters; diagonally slice the carrots & celery. Submerge the potatoes and carrots in water for later
2. Brown the cubed meat, onions, and minced garlic on medium heat. Add pepper but NO SALT. (Fully Cook)
3. Add tomato sauce and "fry" for 15 minutes
4. Mix the 2 packets of Beef Stew seasoning with the required amount of water (3 cups per packets usually); add to the pot
5. Let simmer on medium-low heat for 45 minutes to 1 hour
6. Add all the vegetables and let cook on medium-high heat for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally
7. Add salt to taste
8. Serve and Enjoy!!!

This is the recipe that warms my family's hearts! Its a big winner at the potlucks/parties. This is the first time I had a tomato sauce-based stew (I always ate a brown gravy version growing up).
