Baltimore has a lot of offer in the line of beer- their breweries are everything from classic and sophisticated to unique and festive! This fall is a great time to check them out!

Baltimore-Washington Beer Works

Known for their "Raven Ale" Baltimore-Washington Beer Works open in Baltimore in in June of 1998. However, long before that they were producing beer abroad. Production of their beer first occurred in the Black Forest region of Baden-Württemberg in Germany. After more than a year of operation in Germany, "The Raven" named after Baltimore's literary genius Edgar Allan Poe, was brought to the US, and it has been an area favorite ever since. The Brewer's Art

A Baltimorean favorite, The Brewery Art's architecture is almost as great as it's beer. Build inside a historical Mt. Vernon row home it offers a variety of food and beers including their home brews. Their steady brews include "Ozzy" - a dark, rich, dry beer, "Resurrection"- A sweet, but not too sweet beer that is rich in flavor, and "Proletary Ale"- A very dark, smooth beer. Capitol City Brewing Company

Opening in 1992, Capitol City Brewing Company became the regions first brew-pub since prohibition. Along with great beers they also serve excellent food in a sophisticated setting. The location is great, near the inner-harbor and close to both the baseball and football stadium- a great place to stop into and try one of their constantly changing microbrews. Clipper City Brewing Company LP

Clipper City Brewing Company is Baltimore's largest brewing facility and offers some of it's best microbrews. Their "Loose Cannon was recently reviewed by "All About Beer Magazine" which said it was "beautifully composed". The brewery is named for the famed Clipper ship and is filled with nautical and maritime heritage, a wonderful place to visit to enjoy "Loose Cannon" with some great fare to go along. DuClaw Brewing Company

DuClaw offers some great brews, and the awards to prove it- they have won Best Beer in Baltimore in for their "Misfit Red" and took first place taking in the People's Choice Award at the Maryland Craft Beer Festival for "Venom".) Their newest addition "Nitro Pour"- getting its creaminess from the addition of nitrogen, is definitely something to try. DuClaw Brewing Company is located at 901 S. Red Brick Station Brewing Company

This brewery has some interesting things to try, take for instance their "They Made Me Do It Blueberry Ale" - not often do blueberries and beer go together, but this place makes it happen. Or how about trying "Maddy Moo's Hefe Weissen" - a wheat beer with a banana flavor! They have some classic tasting beers as well, such as their "Avenue Ale" and "Spooner's Stout". It's a fun place to visit and great if you are looking to experience something new in the world of beer. Wharf Rat

Wharf Rat offers a large selection of ales, and their historic 19th century restaurant creates a great ambience. With two locations (Fells Point and Camden Yards) they are very assessable to the Inner Harbor, the major hotels, the Baltimore Convention Center, and new Hippodrome theater.
