Beer Brewing Kits

What to Expect with a Beer Brewing Kit

Chris Morris
There are many types of beer brewing kits available for the novice and expert homebrewers, so it may be tough trying to figure out which one you want to purchase in order to start your new hobby. Be aware, you aren't required to buy a kit to brew beer, but it can greatly simplify the process if you do. Not only do you not have to run around to different stores trying to piece together different items that don't typically go together, but everything in your brewery kit will all be the same general size, allowing more consistency throughout your brewing process.

Before buying a beer kit, you first need to decide how much beer you plan on producing. If you just want a few bottles each week, then one of the smaller kits might be right up your alley. They can cost anywhere from $20 on sale to around $50. If you're planning on inviting friends over to try your newly developed creations, then you'll most likely want to spend a little more and get a bigger kit, designed to make more beer in each batch. If you anticipate just making a lot of beer, then I would probably recommend skipping the kit and going straight to building your own. For most people, though, the standard beer brewing kit will suffice, allowing you to be a generous host whenever you fee like it.

Most kits have the same equipment, they just vary on the size and the extra ingredients that come in them. When you're checking them out, see what is included in the kit before you buy it. If you are looking at paying some extra money on a higher priced kit that just includes a few ingredients, then don't forget to check and see if you might be able to purchase them individually someplace else for less money. You can find anything you want online, so just make sure to do your research before throwing your hard-earned money into a kit that costs more than what you really need.

Regardless of whether you buy a small beer brewing kit, a large one, or just end up piecing together your own kit, I can guarantee that you're going to just absolutely fall in love with the whole idea. Drinking your own homebrewed beer is something that many people enjoy, and you can now be one of them. The money you'll save really adds up, and you'll also be able to experiment with different flavors that can be tough to find already made. Add some fruit to your beer, or mix in some lemonade, or just go crazy with experimentation. In the end you'll find something that you love, and if you decide to pursue it, you could even follow through to make a little money off of it as well.
