I poured a 12 oz bottle poured into a proper weizen glass. This is very pale..."straw" would be generous, and just a touch hazy. A bone-white head rests briefly on top before dissipating.
Man, I can smell the huckleberry as soon as I pop the cap. I walk away, and I can still smell it from across the room. It absolutely dominates the aroma.
First sip is sharply tart...the appearance and aroma sure fooled me into expecting something lesser than what it here. But it's not unpleasant at all. This is tart and sour in all the right ways...puckering your mouth enough to wriggle your nose, but crisp enough to leave you wanting more. The huckleberry initially so dominant in aroma merely plays a a supporting role in the flavor, with tart citrus twang beating out honey sweetness for the lead. Hops are not discernible, but some faint grassy notes muddle around somewhere in the background. An altogether heady combination if ask me, but a tasty one nonetheless. This isn't quite as tart as a true lambic or gueze, but it's likely to please fans of the puckering styles.
Very light body here, and the crisp carbonation really helps this shine as a warm weather quencher. This is one of those beers where every sip leaves you anticipating the next. Perfect for summer.
Huckleberry N' Honey uses pale and wheat malts and is hopped with Liberty and GR Perle...not that you'll ever notice. That delicious tartness will be quite the jealous lover to your taste buds.
This is easily the most unique beer I've tried in a long time. If you think that "once you've had one fruity beer, you've had them all", think again. This is worth the effort of seeking out. Highly recommended.
