There's Revolution in the Air...And In My Beer

Kent Palmer
Beer and Revolution

America's founding fathers brewed beer, recipes rife throughout their writings. Revolution was fomented through fermentation. The Boston Tea Party, a protest against England's East India Trading Company, might as well have seen British hops thrown into the harbor as it did tea.

Today, Tea Partiers are creating a revolution of their own, splintering the Republican Party.

I had the opportunity to visit Revolution Brewing (2323 N. Milwaukee) in Chicago when it was under construction last December. Both brewery and restaurant were in various states of construction inn their space near Logan Square. Privileged to tour the facility with my brewmaster friend, Don Vasa, I could tell something good was afoot.

My recent visit to Revolution confirmed it. The facility is open and inviting. Not only are beers served that are made in-house, they also present multiple guest taps to round things out. The menu offers significant vegetarian options, which I appreciate very much.

Try pairing their Tempeh Reuben's savory overtones with the Samadhi Double IPA. A Eugene Porter's chocolate malts meet the Cherry Bourbon Cake in synergy, one flavor profile building on another.

Soon to have WiFi, I could get used to Revolution.
