Beer-B-Q Marinade and Basting Sauce

Add a Hearty Flavor to Your Meat

GaryGlen
Beer makes an excellent meat marinade. The flavor of beer goes quite well with the flavors of beef. In addition, tough cuts of beef such as flank steak or brisket benefit from the tenderizing characteristics that beer offers.

This beer marinade gives beef a slightly sweet, yet bold flavor. Works on all cuts of beef as well as pork. A 24 hour marinade time is recommended to acheive best results.

Ingredients
2 cups dark beer, Guinness Stout preferred
1 beef bouillon cube
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup olive oil
4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
4 tablespoons molasses
4 tablespoons ketchup
3 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Directions
Mix all wet ingredients in a sauce pan using medium heat
Add the remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly
Continue to simmer until bouillon cube has disolved
Allow mixture to cool
Soak meat in a resealable freezer bag, refrigerated.

This marinade works well as a basting sauce, but boil it for 8 to 10 minutes first. Apply to your meat once it is at the half way point of cooking, since the ketchup, molasses and brown sugar burn easily.
