From the battlements of the highest tower of Sorceress' Keep, he held her in his arms. Her flaming red hair framed her delicate face, which was so different from his own helmeted and shadowed one.
With his free hand, he tilted her chin upwards until he was staring deep into her emerald eyes.
She took a deep breath, then shuddered as a wracking fit rippled through her body.
He felt her shudder. As the wind blew the tails of her silken white robe behind her, it brought a chill from the Northern Ice Mountain. He knew it was not from the chill that she huddled from.
There they stood, atop the battlements of Sorceress' Keep, he clad in his hulking black armour, and she in white delicate robes. Against the backdrop of flaming towers and red heavens they stood, staring deep into each others eyes.
Sure that her gaze was locked with his, he moved his free gauntleted hand to her back. With that gauntlet about her waist he held her.
She shuddered again as a tear rolled down her cheek. "I," she broke off swallowing to clear her throat. "Lay this spell upon you, Dark King." Her voice was low and shallow, a whisper that he barely heard.
"One day," she continued brokenly, "in another life, a different day and age..."
She was fighting for her breath now, as shudders violently rippled across her small slender frame.
"You will find salvation and doom...when you find love. Curse...or blessing," she gasped, "I lay this upon you."
Grimly, he stared into her eyes, while the cold lump that was his heart felt an uncustomary chill. Just a dying woman's ramblings, he thought .
The life was slowly draining from her eyes. Slowly, she settled her head on his armoured chest, adn wrapped her arms around him.
She gulped in pain.
With a wrench that brought a pained gasp form her bloodless lips, he pulled his great sword from her body.
The Sorceress known as Kassandra, the Mistress of Sorceress Keep, would've slumped down to the Dark King's feet if he had not supported her with his arms. Slowly, as their great armies clashed before the walls of the Keep, time went by.
She took one last pained breath, and the world seemed to still about her...
The instant of her death, the Dark King knew.
The whole world knew of her passing, for the release of her final spell of Destruction was a cataclysmic event. At that instant, there was a flash of pure white light as the Sorceress used her last breath to sear everything from the world.
In burning white light, all was washed away...
