Before You Were Born

Installment 4

Casey

February 12, 2011 just got home from out favorite secret lake and I'm totally beat, but what a blast! Vinko (your future grandpa) or Jake's dad let us take the 800 RMK snowmobile to the lake, big mistake. Well not really actually because Jake didn't break it like I thought he would. I probably haven't mentioned this before but your father on anything with a motor is insaneness, pure crazy. The first time I rode with him on a dirt bike, he pulled it up into a wheelie and we went fifty miles an hour in a wheelie! Every single memory I have with your father is so wonderful I cannot even help but smile over four years later. Well today he ripped down the trail hitting every jump possible; we got to the lake at about seven in the morning. We fished until almost four in the afternoon before packing it up and heading home, got quite a few nice sized crappies too! A pretty much perfect day, got all my studying done on a lake with lots of memories and always gives a good day of fishing.

We may not have an extremely extravagant life, both of us work hard and play hard. I do have an ice auger, about six summer poles, one hot pink ice fishing pole, a muzzleloader, shotgun, among other guns, snowmobile helmets, wheeler batteries, and antlers on every wall. But to me this is a rich life; the people who I know who are truly money rich are not happy people. The Iron Range in itself is a unique place to grow up and live in. Not only for the outdoor activities available, but for the character of the people here, you have your average folks, the ones that have ego's the size of a moose, and all the other crazy people who make up a community. But you know as soon as you encounter people around here that it's different. My grandma moved here over fifty odd years ago and was called a packsacker for many years. So it's not an easy area to integrate into but growing up here is a dream. A character filled and outdoor revolving dream!
