Beginner Guitar Lessons- What is the Right Way for You

Doug Taylor
Now that the Internet is available almost anywhere there are a lot of new ways to take beginner guitar lessons. With all of the free and paid websites out there, not to mention forums and message boards it is easier than ever to learn to play a guitar. You no longer have to drive to a music store to take lessons if you don't want to. The guitar can now be mastered in the comfort of your own home.

Although this all sounds good if you don't have at least some experience you may be better off starting out with some private one on one instruction or another good way is to sign up for some group lessons as they are often a little cheaper.

Group beginner guitar lessons usually consist of a class with other people in the class with you. This is good as you are likely to develop some guitar-playing buddies. This can be a big help because you can learn from each other. The only downside is you may not get enough individual attention from your instructor. If you find this is the case you may want to go ahead and signup for private lessons.

No matter which method of learning you choose you should make sure your teacher is someone you can learn from. He or she should not only be able to play the guitar but they should also be able to teach you what you need to learn. There are many great guitar players out there that have a hard time showing someone what he or she is doing. Playing the guitar and teaching the guitar are two different things.

Make sure when you go to your lesson you are well prepared. You will need a guitar that is in good working order plus any learning materials your teacher requires. Most important of all is to show up for your lesson being able to play last weeks lesson.

In the big picture of things you can take beginner guitar lessons in your hometown or on the Internet. The mehod you choose is not as important as practicing the songs until they start sounding good. That is when it all becomes worthwhile.
