Beginner Knitter's Pattern Paradise!

Jes H.
I taught myself how to knit early last year. Now, a year later, I wish I would have had some fun patterns that were easy for beginners that weren't just scarves. I also wanted patterns that I would wear and use, not the stuffy, outdated ones I kept finding! So I decided to share some great beginner patterns for knitters! I hope you have fun with these!

Kitty Dishcloth/Washcloth

This little washcloth is simple and fun! It will help you perfect your purling, and it will make a great gift for any Hello Kitty fan!

Cabled wrist warmers

These wrist warmers are cute, flat knitted (knitted with two needles instead of circular or double pointed needles), and are a great intro project for beginner cablers. Cabling is really easy once you try on a simple pattern like this one!

Diddy Bag

This little bag is simple and a quick knit! It's great for a beginner, and it's actually useful.

Tueby

This is a great beginner sweater, and it's not a chunky, loose fitting knit like some of the patterns you will see. It also gives you great practice with joining pieces!

Calorimetry

This has got to be one of the best beginner things I have ever knit! It gives you practice with things like slipping stitches and short rows, and it's a great way of learning to use markers to keep track of your stitches.

Ballband Dishcloth/Washcloth

This little washcloth is a perfect way to jump to knitting with two colors. It's not intimidating, and a very easy knit!

Circular Shrug

This little circular shrug is a great project. It will help you work on your ribbing and joining, and it's not overwhelmingly difficult. It also breaks up the ribbing so you aren't stuck doing it your whole project!

Quant

This may look difficult, but it's not as hard as it looks! This is a great way to practice picking up stitches and will help you move on past the simpler patterns!

Coachella

This is perfect for knitting something that's wearable in warmer weather! It's so fun and easy, and another great project to practice short rows and picking up stitches. It's also great practice for sizing something to your body.
