Beginner-Friendly Liquid Liners

The Best Liquid Liners for Beginners

Lehticia Leo
Liquid liner is ultra sexy. Hollywood starlets Megan Fox, Dita Von Teese, Lauren Conrad and Kim Kardashian are never spotted out without heavy liquid liner. Though liquid liner is an insta-sexifier it's outrageously difficult to apply with those wimpy brushes they provide. Personally, it took me a little over a year to learn how to properly apply liquid liner. The first few attempts were absolutely catastrophic. My line never came out straight or even and the liquid liner constantly smeared over my eye shadow before it had a chance to dry. Eventually, I switched over to liquid liners that provide a felt-tip applicator rather than a brush; they are much easier to apply. Below are two of the best beginner-friendly liquid liners that I love and highly recommend.

Elf Liquid Liner

If you're on a tight budget, you absolutely must add the Elf liquid liner to your beauty arsenal. Elf liquid liner is available in seven different bold shades. However, if you're looking for the sexy classic look that Hollywood starlets are all over right now, I suggest you stick to classic black. The felt tip applicator that comes packaged with the Elf liquid liner is different from the other liquid liner mentioned because the applicator is so incredibly small. The felt tip applicator on the liner is literally the length of a fingernail, which makes the application of the eye liner idiot-proof; even if you mess up a bit when applying, since the wand covers such a small area, you can easily conceal the imperfection with a few small strokes. As with all Elf Cosmetics products, the Elf liquid liner is priced at just $1 per tube. Below, I've provided a link to where you can purchase this liquid liner online.

Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen

The ease of application the Revlon Colorstay Liquid Pen provides is phenomenal. This liquid eye liner is ideal for beginners because the eye liner is essentially a pen, and we are all familiar with drawing straight, consistent lines with pens. Personally, I find the best way to apply this eye liner is to lay it on my lash line at an angle and just sweep the liquid eye pen across my lash line; I then go over the line once more using this very technique and in less than a minute I've perfectly applied my liquid liner. The only complaint I have against this product is that the color seems a bit watered down. I purchased this shade in "blackest black," and I was tremendously disappointed with the color payoff. The liner color comes out looking the darkest possible shade of gray, but no black. There is a notable difference in the color, but once you apply a second coat of the liner, you'll have the color intensity you need. The Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen is priced at just around $8. However, I've heard from other women that you can get this liner for $4 when Walmart and drugstores are running sales. So, I advice you wait for a sale if possible and pick up two for the price of one. Below, I've provided a link where you can purchase this liquid liner online.

Great article! I honestly avoid liquid liners normally because they require so much effort and are so easy to mess up!
