Let's get started - I will explain from what my experience.
The first thing I looked into buying was a Power Amplifier so I could really get some nice sound from my beats. I checked out a great site called MusiciansFriend where I picked a Phonic 410 Mixer + Two Speakers. It was about $200 and it included two 10" speakers, a microphone, and the mixer - With the cables included of course. I practiced with this for a few weeks and in the mean time I learned more about microphones and the quality, effectiveness, etc... So I did my fair share of research and settled on the world renowned Shure SM58. I ordered it along with a nice 20ft XLR cable and it was quite a performance improvement. My sound was a lot sharper and crisper which really emphasized certain beats.
So the three main things you need are:
1.) Power Amplifier
2.) Microphone
3.) Cables
With these three, you can start beatboxing with the help of technology and this gear can even be used to perform at small gigs and on stage. The Phonic 410 + Speaker combo can get extremely loud and fill up a whole football field with sound.
Now - the good thing about this Phonic 410 Combo is the fact that it isn't restricted to beatboxing. You can immediately use it for any other music related activities or even resell it for a good chunk of the original price! This is important in case you don't want it anymore or need some spare cash.
