Beginners Guide to Camping with Technology

Carrie Lowe
Let's face it, the days of camping by the lake with nothing but the stars and water to look at are long gone. With technology such a huge part of daily lives. Because technology is such a huge aspect of our lives, it is almost impossible to get away for a few days without taking at least some pieces of technology with you. In order to ensure that you can survive the trip, and still enjoy the technology that you love so much.

The main piece of technology that you are likely to want to take with you is your cell phone. This is one of the most common accessories for anyone, and it is portable and easily able to go. Just be sure to check and see if you will have cell coverage in the area where you are going so that you can contact emergency personnel in the event of a problem. In the event that it rains, you need to take a couple of waterproof bags that you can place the phone in so that it will not be damaged or ruined.

Additional technology that makes its way into camping now is cooking supplies. With electrical outlets common in most camping sites, it is possible to take a small electrical skillet that you can use to cook with. This gives you much greater options for food preparation, instead of simply using the fire and limited cooking utensils that can withstand the heat. By using the electricity and improved cooking options, you will find that you have a much easier time having options for your meals.

You should also consider looking for a generator, or even a battery operated power inverter if you are really determined to have electricity and do not have power available to you at your preferred camping destination. While a generator can produce power for a much longer period of time, it is also important to realize that you are not going to be able to enjoy the quiet of nature that way due to the noise. Additionally, they are quite heavy and require continuous fuel refills. A much better solution is typically a battery inverter. This is a device that will convert power from batteries, into AC power that your electronics can use. Setting up the system with a solar panel to recharge the batteries creates a quiet, as well as environmentally friendly way to enjoy power while camping.

Remember though, it is still perfectly find to rough it while camping and enjoy nothing but the ground, and the sounds of nature. Enjoy camping the way that you prefer, and remember that you are able to enjoy the advances of technology anytime you like.
