Beginners Guide to Playing No-Limit Texas Hold 'Em Poker!

Jason Ward
Well to tell you the truth poker is my favorite game and my favorite type of poker is Texas Hold'em(Not surprising as I am writing an article about it), I believe that everybody should know how to play so that they can all share in the fun, whether you want to go gamble in a casino or just play a friendly home game I will teach you everything you need to know about the game.

Texas Hold'em is the most popular variation of poker there is a World Series of Poker tournament that is held each year with a grand prize of 1 to 2 million dollars to the winner, it is also the game of choice for most casinos and card-houses.
First I am going to explain to you the rules:
First, one player receives the Big Blind chip which a decided upon amount by the game and the person to his right is given the Small Blind which is half of the size of the Big Blind, these have to be payed before the cards can be dealt, each turn the blinds move one down to the left and so goes around the whole table, depending on what style you are playing the blinds could increase or stay the same during the duration of the game.
Next, in a clockwise rotation each player is dealt 2 cards face down, these cards are for your viewing only and should for no reason be shown to anyone else(Unless you have a lose wish) after you have decided whether you want to keep the cards you can either call the Big Blind and/or raise(Unless you are the Big blind if so you have the option to check meaning you don't have to pay anything more unless someone raises), the turn passes to each individual at the table and they can decide whether to fold(Throw in your cards) or call.
After the first round of betting has finished what is called "the Flop" is dealt down which consists of 3 cards being dealt face up in the middle, now if the cards look favorable to your cards you can decide to stay in and keep betting or calling, one more round of betting happens based on the cards just dealt.
Next, what is called "the Turn" is dealt down with is one more card added to the middle, now if you have decided to stay in another round of betting ensues and once again you choose what to do.
Finally, "The River" which is the last card comes down and one final round of betting goes on, after the players have called and raised the ones that are left in show their two cards to reveal who had the better hand, the person with the highest hand wins and takes all the chips.

These are the various hands in order of smallest to largest:
1.
One Pair: Any two of the same card, Eg:2 of hearts and 2 of diamonds, or jack of spades and jack of diamonds.
2.
Two Pair: Two one pairs, Eg:4 of hearts and 4 of spades and 6 of diamonds and 6 of clubs.
3.
Three of a Kind: Three of the same card, Eg:5 of clubs and 5 of diamonds and 5 of hearts.
4.
Straight: Five cards in a row, Eg:10,9,8,7,6 does not matter what suit they are.
5.
Flush: Five cards all of the same suit, Eg:8h, 2h, 4h,6h,3h, (h=hearts).
6.
Full House: One pair and Three of a Kind, Eg:8,8,5,5,5 different suits.
7.
Four of a Kind: Like the name implies four of the same number, Eg:9,9,9,9.
8.
Straight Flush: All of the numbers ten and under in a row of the same suit, Eg:10d,9d,8d,7d,6d(d=diamonds).
9.
Royal Flush: The Highest possible hand this is when you have Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten, all of the same suit.

Well I hope this taught you a thing or two and that the next time you want to play cards you choose this excellent game.
